While AI advancements are rapidly reshaping the learning landscape, PolyU is taking the lead by initiating the International Consortium for Higher Education Transformation and Innovation with AI (ICHETI). Officially launched in July 2026 with 16 Founding Members across the globe, ICHETI is a strategic alliance of world-leading universities at the forefront of educational transformation and innovation, dedicated to sharing practices and co-developing technology to drive the paradigm shift toward an AI-powered, student-centred and personalised model of learning and teaching.

IHERD serves as ICHETI’s secretariat. The chairman and secretary-general will be elected in accordance with the charter, with the President and Vice President (Education) of PolyU serving as the inaugural Chairperson and Secretary-General.

As the FIRST organisation of its kind in the world, the ICHETI network is expected to expand even further and play an active role in shaping the future of education.

Mission

To co-create a global academic community that advances learning and teaching through collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and the joint development of AI-driven curricula, pedagogies, tools, and practices.

The International Forum for Higher Education Transformation and Innovation held on 3 July 2026 featured a series of presidential roundtable discussions and keynote speeches.
